Bid price at 20-25% below advanced purchase price from major discounters could be a good starting point. Of course some people try more aggressively. To get the best bid, it is better to open your options to all available airports around your city and an open time for departures and returning. It may take some research to come out with the right price to bid. You may get some remarkable bargains from Priceline, but in return, you might have to give up control of your flight times and your choice of airlines. Again, Priceline is for flexible travelers who like real bargains.
